The Dance is part of a suite of drawings made during a 2-month stay in Amsterdam, in 1999. During that time period Ed was working towards an exhibition at W139 in Amsterdam, as well as another show in Den Bosch. It proved to be one of most productive periods in his art career. Recent accolades include a commission to execute new work for curator Eliza Gluckman’s U.K. touring exhibition, entitled Sinopticon, and an invitation by co-curators Catherine de Zegher and Gerald McMaster to participate in the 2012 Sydney Biennial. Pien’s works of art have found homes in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto; The National Gallery, Ottawa; and Centrum Beeldende Kunst, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
